Internet of Things (IoT)

What will your smartphone control next?

“In 2015, over 1.4 billion smart phones will be shipped and by 2020 we will have a staggering 6.1 billion smartphone users,” according to Bernard Marr in his recent Forbes article, “17 ‘Internet Of Things’ Facts Everyone Should Read“. Today smartphones can work with your security system to turn on and off your lights, adjust your thermostat as you drive home from work, alert you when you leave your house or garage unlocked, confirm what that your children have arrived home from school, track your dog when he runs off, and let you see who is at your front door — even when you are away from home. Emergency alerts and even images and video can be sent to your phone when a security alarm is triggered, a smoke detector goes off, or extreme temperatures or flooding is detected. The video below shows how smartphones are being used today in the connected home.
